feversend | empathy: first listen (Reply)

Here's my first impression of the Rose MV and the Empathy album, simply copied from the word doc I had rambled into while listening. Had originally wanted to do something special, lie haikus for every song or finding poetry pieces for them but don't have the time or the energy atm so just leaving this here--perhaps will do that by the end of the month. We'll see!

Rose mv- im speechless, im crying, im feeling so much. nobody has a voice like kyungsoo. nobody can make me feel the way he does. when the music video opened to a sprouting plant on the ground it felt personal immediately. like we were talking to each other. i love the guitar line, it makes the song so fresh and bright and beautiful and kyungsoo’s melodies over it are so simple and heartfelt you cant help but want to fall and be in love listening to it. the music video is gorgeous, im glad they went for a mixed media kinda thing its making my imagination run wild with possibility.

rose-the tempo and kyungsoos voice automatically make u think of riding on a bike under blue skies….its breezy without the acoustic strumming u think of when u think of breezy

im gonna love you-reminds me of kyungsoos smile in the highlight medley video during this part. the way he says achim aaah. it really suits the tamber of his voice.

my love- shift to electric guitar is good cause he starts with ‘late night’ and it suits the night mood. breakup song? almost breakup?

its love- ost track!!!!the song made to highlight his falsetto clearly..something so sad about the melody

dad-the best opening of the album. reminds me of seungyoon's iyah. verse is way more impactful than the chorus. love the ending chorus

im fine-the rhythm on its own is kind of bittersweet. but kyungsoo’s voice makes it warmer, especially in the chorus-the lines after he says how are u.

rose eng-korean lyrics were so much prettier

si fueras mia- i cant believe he’s singing in spanish now good god my guy OH the chorus sounds gorgeous on this version

additions made two days after album release: im gonna love you is my chansoo song. im fine is a big grower. rose does not get tiring...its relentless and romantic and positive about love and you have it get into it! after all, its kyungsoo saying it--how can you not?
